From an honesty box to a farm shop
Ten years of good food, honestly made, in the heart of the Severn Vale.

A crate, a tin and a chalked sign
In the spring of 2014, the Hartleys had a glut of rhubarb and rather too much honey. So they set a wooden crate at the end of the Greenway Farm track with an honesty tin and a hand-chalked sign. By the weekend the crate was empty and the tin was full.
That little crate told us something simple: people are hungry for food with a story — grown nearby, made with care, sold by someone who knows where it came from. We have been answering that ever since.

One roof, five counters, a warm kitchen
Today the old milking barn holds a larder of preserves and oils, a bakery counter that fills the place with the smell of warm crust, a cheese room, a little cellar of cider and ale — and a kitchen serving breakfast and lunch from what is freshest that morning.
Nothing travels far. If we can’t make it ourselves, we find someone within thirty miles who makes it better.
Four things we won’t compromise on
Provenance
We can name the field, the herd or the maker behind everything on our shelves.
Seasonality
We follow the calendar, not the supermarket. Things taste better at the right time.
Craft
Slow-proved, copper-pan, hand-tied. The unhurried way, because it tastes of something.
Community
Every basket supports a Vale family — a grower, a brewer, a baker, a neighbour.

We’re only as good as our growers
More than forty Vale producers fill our shelves — the dairy that ages our cheddar in the Severn cellars, the orchard that presses our cider, the bees a field away that give us our honey. We pay them properly and we put their names on the label.
